Hair Care
Switching to a natural shampoo? Your hair may appear crispy and dull the first few weeks. Don't fret - this is completely normal! Most shampoos on the market contain silicones (those are grotty, unnatural minerals that coat your gorge locks so they APPEAR shiny and lush - check out this great article on what silicone based shampoo is all about). Because silicones give your hair the appearance of health, it can be kind of a let down to make a natural swap and suddenly look all Crispy McCrisperson. Many silicones are water soluble so take some time to wash out. Don't lose hope - they will wash out after a week or two and you can get that shine and lush back by just letting your hair be it's damn self.
Natural Shampoo Brands to try:
Griffin Remedy - this was the first natural shampoo I tried and still a go-to. I've tried several of them, my personal faves are the Stimulating Shampoo and the Volumizing Shampoo.
Acure - my fav is the Coconut and Marula Shampoo.
Natural Hair Oil to try:
Prim Botanicals - I really like this oil although am not a huge fan of the scent which is pretty potent. I use it on my ends almost daily and on occasion will cover my whole head 30 minutes prior to a shower for a hair mask. Good news is they sell a mini version - which for oil, still goes a long way - so you can try it out and see if you dig it.
Dry Shampoo:
Captain Blankenship Mermaid - the name is a tad gender specific, but this is a great formula and anyone can benefit from dry shampoo.
